Martin Tanner was born in Surrey and studied engineering at Kingston Technical College. He has always been interested in art and design with an engineering theme. After leaving school, he worked as an advertising designer, a draftsman and a freelance graphic and inductrial designer. As an industrial designer, he has designed everything from cars and boats to swimming pools, many of these have been built. His varied illustrations have been used in advertising and many publications. Martin Tanner has always been drawing and painting, both for pleasure and as a commercial illustrator. His paintings have appreared in galleries and exhibitions where they have been sold to private and corporate clients all over the world
